Zooming with Friends: Kathryn
Welcome to the new feature “Zooming with Friends,” where I have a fun photoshoot via Zoom with my friends, and they answer some questions on how they're holding up and give us some suggestions on what to eat, drink and watch.
Name: Kathryn
Location: Greenpoint, Brooklyn
Do you live alone/who do you live with?
I live with my best friend, Rina Kim
Are you working?
Gratefully, yes. I work as a designer.
What show has been giving you life during quarantine?
I’m not a big TV or movie person, but true-crime series have been my jam. Late to the game but I’d binged “The Staircase” a bit (I don’t think M. Peterson did it) and I really liked Abstract, The Art of Design.
Song everyone should listen to?
Damn. Too many. I love “Splits are Parted” by Amen Dunes or “This Time” by Land of Talk. One moody, one empowering.
What’s the outfit you cannot wait to wear when the shelter-in-place is over?
More than an outfit, I’m really looking forward to wearing my red lipstick again every day & feeling like myself.
What was the best cocktail you made?
Nothing from scratch yet, but alcohol-wise basically all the cheap red wine and slowly transitioning back into my summer fav, Blue Point Blueberry Ale.
What's been the lowest point for you during the shelter-in-place?
In a weird way, I’ve been really at peace with it all. Grief comes in waves, mostly regarding the experiences with friends, family, or loved ones that were planned and lost. Other than that, I’m trying to take this time to reset, allowing what sticks to stick and what sheds to shed and trust it will all align better someday.
First restaurant you are going to when it’s open?
Ramona’s cocktail bar for a Perfume “V” with charcuterie and olives.
Any happy surprises about your current situation?
I fell in love with someone really special.
What is your favorite way to keep in touch with people right now?
Phonecalls, zooms, group chats & memes.
What is the best recipe you have made?
Everything bagels from scratch!
What habits are you forming now that you will bring into the future?
Getting my finances in gear.
3 words to describe your current situation:
Slow. Humbling. At Ease.
Thank you so much Kat and RoRo!!
