Hi there.

Think of this blog as your new best friend.

It’s the friend who calls to tell you about her latest cheap thrill, the friend who sends links to everything she’s buying. And the friend who introduces you to all of her other cool friends.

I hope you can hang out for a while.

Brainwave #4

Brainwave #4

The events that have transpired during the last week have been weighing really heavily on me and there is not much I can say that hasn’t already been said, and so many people have taken the time to articulate exactly how I’m feeling (in a much better way than I ever could). So, instead of me trying to rewrite something - I have rounded up some of the links, quotes, and messages that I have found to be powerful and helpful. I encourage you to watch, share, and reflect.

And I want to end my note with this tweet that I found very powerful and would be my response to all the people missing the bigger picture of what’s going on and only entering the conversation with anger towards the looting and riots.

Cup of Jo has a great post “On becoming Anti-Racist” here, and another good post on “Raising Race-Conscious Children”

Alyssa Coscarelli made an awesome list of black-owned businesses to support here.

A powerful and heartbreaking video that demonstrates how white people are born with “a head start” in life and how unfair it really is.

An article by Barak Obama on how to make real change for the future. (Hint: we need to VOTE!)

A list of books to read to educate yourself and learn how to be anti-racist.

After so much time reading and reflecting the past couple of days I have realized how much work I have to do myself. I am going to continue to read, listen, donate, and make an effort to support black-owned businesses now and long after the George Floyd story is no longer seen in the media.
